Datenschutz

Stand: 9. Oktober 2026

Kurz gesagt

  • Kein Konto, keine Anmeldung, keine Werbung, keine Analyse-Werkzeuge, keine Cookies.

2. Was auf deinem Gerät bleibt

3. Was dein Gerät abruft

  1. Schreibe an [email protected].

The short version

  • No account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics, no cookies.
  • Your progress and what you have memorised stay in your browser, on your device.
  • Recitations, translations and tafsir are fetched from the sources that provide them — each of them sees your IP address, as any website you open does.
  • Your email address is only ever processed if you type it into the contact form yourself.
  • If you switch on the daily reminder in a browser, we keep your browser's push address and the times — nothing else, and only until you switch it off.

1. Who is responsible

The controller under the GDPR:
Hüseyin Arziman

Full details in the imprint.

2. What stays on your device

Quran Scroll is a web application with no account. Everything the app knows about you sits in your browser's storage on your own device and is sent nowhere:

These are not cookies; it is the browser's own local storage. None of it reaches a server. Clear this site's browser data and it is gone — from us as well, because we never had it.

3. What your device fetches

The Qur'anic text, the mushaf pages, the background photographs and clips, every translation on offer, the word-by-word meanings, the word timings and the whole of the tafsir are part of the app and are served from our own hosting. No request for any of those leaves it.

What is still fetched from the sources below: every recitation, and the odd verse missing from our copy because the provider would not give it to us. Your browser makes those requests directly, so each source sees your IP address and which file was asked for — as any website you open does. We pass them nothing about you.

SourceWhat for
Quran.com (api.quran.com, verses.quran.com)recitation; a fallback only for single verses of tafsir, word timings or word meanings missing from our copy
Islamic Network (api.alquran.cloud, cdn.islamic.network)recitation; and as a fallback only: single verses of Tafsir al-Jalalayn, and the translations if our copy ever fails to load
QuranEnc (quranenc.com)a fallback only: single verses of the tafsir editions it carries, where they are missing from our copy
QuranicAudio (download.quranicaudio.com, mirrors.quranicaudio.com)recitation
EveryAyah (everyayah.com)recitation
Tarteel (audio-cdn.tarteel.ai)recitation

Each of these providers is responsible for its own processing. The legal basis for the request is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: without it there is no recitation and no translation, and so no app.

4. Hosting

The site is served by Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Cloudflare processes the access data needed to serve it — IP address, time, file requested, browser identification — to deliver the page and to defend it against attack. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. A data processing agreement is in place and the transfer to the USA relies on the Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. The contact form

When you write a message from the app's menu, what is sent is: your text, any screenshots you attached, the country code of your connection, and — only if you give one — your email address for a reply. Giving the address is optional; without it, you simply cannot be answered. The country code is added by our host from the connection itself; it is a country and nothing finer.

Nothing else rides with an “Idea” or a “Message” — not your device, not your browser, and not what you were reading. With a “Problem” the app also sends what is needed to reproduce the fault: browser version, operating system, window size, pixel ratio, build, network, service worker, and the state you were in — the verse you were on, your language, translation, reciter and light or dark. That is the one place any of it is any use. Whichever applies, you can expand and read the exact line before you press Send.

Delivery goes through Resend (Resend, Inc., USA). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — answering enquiries. The message stays in the operator's mailbox for as long as it is needed to deal with it, and is deleted afterwards.

So that the form cannot be abused, we count how many messages have been sent in a day altogether and how many of them came from the same connection. No IP address is stored: the address and that day's date are turned into a one-way check value which cannot be reversed, and which cannot be matched against the value for any other day. Only the counts are kept, never the messages. The daily counts delete themselves after two days and the monthly ones after two months.

6. The daily reminder in a browser

If you switch on the daily reminder in a browser, the browser asks your permission to show notifications and creates a push address for it at its maker's push service — Google for Chrome and Edge, Mozilla for Firefox, Apple for Safari. Exactly two things then reach our server: that address and the times of your reminders, for the next 40 days at most. No name, no language, no verse and no wording of the reminder — that is already in your browser.

At each time our server sends an empty message to that address through the push service, and your browser shows the words the app left with it. The push service delivers it; it sees that a message comes from us, but no content, because there is none.

Each time is deleted once its reminder has gone. When you switch the reminder off, the address and all its times are deleted at once — and so they are when the push service reports that the address no longer exists, for example because you withdrew the permission in your browser. They are stored at Cloudflare (see 4). The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you withdraw at any time by switching the reminder off.

In the app on a phone or tablet the device schedules the reminder itself; nothing is sent to us for it.

7. No cookies, no analytics, no advertising

This application sets no cookies, embeds no analytics or statistics service, shows no advertising, and loads no fonts, scripts or forms from anybody else's server into the page. That is also why there is no consent banner: there is nothing here to consent to.

8. Your rights

You have, in respect of the operator:

Having your data deleted

The data this app can hold about you is what you send through the contact form: your message, your reply address (only if you give one), screenshots (only if you attach any), and the country code the server derives from the connection. There are no accounts, no profiles and no database of users.

And, while you have it switched on in a browser, the daily reminder: your browser's push address and the times (see 6). You delete those yourself by switching the reminder off in the app.

To have it deleted:

  1. Write to [email protected].
  2. Say which address you wrote from, and roughly when.
  3. You will get a confirmation once it is done — normally within 30 days.

Both copies go: the message in the operator's mailbox, and the record held by Resend, the service that delivered it. Nothing is kept beyond that; without a deletion request a message stays in the mailbox for as long as answering it requires. Anything on your own device — downloaded recitations, your bookmarks — you delete yourself from the app's menu under “Downloads”, without asking anybody.

In practice this usually means: whatever is on your device you delete yourself, from the app's menu under “Downloads” and in your browser's own settings. For anything else, a message to the address in the imprint is enough.
